EFB batteries are an enhanced version of conventional flooded lead-acid batteries and are typically used in vehicles with basic Start-Stop systems or higher electrical demands. AGM batteries offer greater cycle durability and power capability and are designed for more advanced Start-Stop systems, regenerative braking, and vehicles with high electrical loads. Always use the battery technology specified for your vehicle.

Not every Start-Stop vehicle requires an AGM battery. Some vehicles are designed for EFB batteries, while more advanced Start-Stop systems may require AGM technology. Replace the battery with the same technology specified by the vehicle manufacturer; an AGM battery should not be replaced with an EFB or conventional flooded battery.

  • CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) indicates the current a battery can deliver for 30 seconds at −18°C while maintaining sufficient voltage to start the engine.
  • RC (Reserve Capacity) indicates how many minutes the battery can continue supplying essential electrical power if the alternator stops working.
  • AH (Ampere-hours) indicates the battery’s electrical capacity over a specified discharge period, commonly measured over 20 hours.

A standard automotive starter battery is designed primarily to provide short bursts of power for engine starting and may not be suitable for repeated deep discharge. Boats and RVs often require marine, leisure, or deep cycle batteries that are designed for repeated cycling, vibration, and prolonged power supply. Select a battery specifically matched to the starting and auxiliary power requirements of your application.
